A Guide for Professionals
Eden House Family Centre, part of CLASS UK Ltd, is a specialist residential family assessment centre providing comprehensive parenting assessments within a safe, structured, and supportive environment.
We work with Local Authorities, courts, and partner agencies to deliver high-quality, evidence-based assessments that support informed decision-making and promote the best possible outcomes for children.
Our Service
We provide residential parenting assessments for parents and their children, typically where there are concerns regarding parenting capacity and child safety.
Our service includes:
- Residential family placements in a fully staffed setting
- Structured, evidence-based parenting assessments
- Tailored intervention and support programmes
- Therapeutic input from qualified professionals
- Community-based assessment and outreach support
Stays with us are usually between 12–20 weeks, with flexibility based on the needs of the child and family.
Our Approach
At Eden House, we adopt a holistic, strengths based and child-centred approach to assessment which is underpinned by the principles of the Children Act 1989, Residential Family Centres Regulations (2002) and the Working Together to Safeguard Children (2020) framework.
Our assessments consider:
- Parenting capacity and ability to meet a child’s developmental needs
- Observations of daily care and routines
- Capacity to engage with support and demonstrate sustained change
- Understanding of concerns and risks
- Attachment and parent-child interactions
- impact of parental history, trauma, mental health, substance misuse, and domestic abuse.
We use specialist tools such as ParentAssess to support parents with learning disabilities to engage with their assessment and to ensure that this is meaningful.
Assessments are:
- Individualised and responsive to each family’s needs
- Evidence-based and informed by recognised frameworks
- Conducted through a combination of observation, direct work, and multi-agency input
We aim to balance support and assessment, enabling parents to demonstrate change while ensuring robust and defensible analysis.
